Be Notified Immediately When a Power Outage Happens
Battery backup power is the most reliable way to stay protected during outages. Battery-powered generators:
- Detect a power failure automatically and switch to emergency power.
- Begin powering connected equipment in milliseconds.
- Support critical systems like medical imaging and cold storage for medicines and surgeries.
Once utility power returns, it’s important to keep the right people informed so operations run smoothly.

Knowing exactly when and where an outage occurs helps get the appropriate personnel deployed quickly. EverSafe’s Power Outage Alert System provides this capability without requiring any subscription fees.
What Is the Power Outage Alert System?
The EverSafe Power Outage Alert System is an optional equipment package designed to work with EverSafe battery backup generators. It connects to your facility’s existing phone line.
When an outage happens, this add-on:
- Automatically dials up to four pre-configured phone numbers to inform them of the outage.
- Calls each number in a set order and repeats until someone confirms receipt of the alert.
- Sends alerts both when the backup generator loses utility power and when its batteries are depleted and no longer delivering power.
- Includes a programmable delay, so notifications are sent only if the outage lasts longer than a specified time.
- Monitors and reports room temperature during alert calls.
- Comes with a built-in microphone that lets you record custom alert messages—useful for facilities with multiple locations.
All of these features are available with no subscription fee.
You can also choose to add a Temperature Probe Package to enhance the system. With this:
- You can monitor the internal temperature of pharmaceutical or medical cold storage appliances.
- The temperature of your refrigerator is reported during alert calls.
Note: The Alert System and Temperature Probe are add-ons; they can be included when you first purchase the system or retrofitted to existing EverSafe backup generators.
How Does the Power Outage Alert System Work?
Installation & Setup of the Alert System
The Power Outage Alert System has its own control panel (keypad, special buttons). It operates independently from the backup generator. By default, the panel is mounted on the front of the backup unit unless another location is requested.

If ordered together with the backup system, the alert system comes preinstalled.
Quick setup includes:
- Programming up to four phone numbers to be called during an outage
- Setting a time delay so that notifications happen only if the power is out for longer than the threshold
- Recording custom alert messages, which is highly recommended
Phone Line & Connectivity Options
EverSafe recommends using a traditional copper-wire (POTS) phone line because they typically continue functioning during power failures, ensuring alert calls go through.
Other options are:
- VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol): Requires an adapter to connect the alert system’s phone jack to a facility’s VOIP service.
- Cellular Hotspot Service: For locations without traditional lines or internet service continuity. You connect a wireless adapter or the alert system’s phone jack to the hotspot. Requires arranging for SIM service and network connectivity.

If using a hotspot, powering it from the EverSafe backup system is advisable, because cellular network equipment often has its own backup power.
What Happens During a Power Outage
- When utility power is lost, the Alert System detects this and switches to its battery-backup power (from the backup generator).
- Then—either immediately or after the set delay—it places emergency alert calls to up to four pre-programmed numbers.
- A custom recorded message helps the recipients know where the outage is and which system or room is affected.
- The system continues calling each number in order until someone enters the “acknowledgment code” given during the alert call.
This ensures that the facility’s staff, doctors, or others are alerted and can act as needed.
Does the Alert System Monitor Generator Status?

Yes. The system has built-in monitoring and reports when the backup system’s batteries are low.
You can also call in to get status on four “zones”:
- Zone 1 – Monitors room temperature with the included sensor; if the optional temperature probe is added, it can monitor internal fridge temperature.
- Zone 2 – Checks whether the appliances are being powered by utility or battery power.
- Zone 3 – Monitors if utility power is reaching the backup generator (which is needed to charge batteries and run normal loads).
- Zone 4 – If you have the temperature probe, this monitors the fridge’s internal temperature.
If you also include web-based, remote monitoring software alongside the alert system and temperature probe, you’ll have continuous visibility (24/7) into battery life, voltages, power inputs, and more.
